Equipment Used During Investigations
The following equipment is some of the equipment we use during our investigations to help us determine whether or not activity is taking place.
Sony DCR-HC26 Handycam
We use the DCR-HC26 Camcorder during investigations. This Camcorder packs a powerful 20X zoom into an extremely compact & lightweight chassis. It is also equipped with Sony Nightshot Plus which enables us to record in the dark.
Sony DCR-SR68 Handycam
We use the DCR-SR68 Camcorder during investigations. This Camcorder delivers high-resolution images, while a 60x optical/2000x digital zoom lets you record close up action from a distance. It also stores directly to a hard disk drive.
Sony HVL-IRM Infrared Nightshot Extension
We use the Sony HVL-IRM Extension because it enables strong definition over a great distance to deliver terrific video footage. This is a must, as it allows farther range with Nightshot and a clearer image of the area being recorded.
Q-See 4 Channel H.264 Security DVR & 4 Quality CCD Cameras with Night Vision
We use the Q-See 4 Channel H.264 Security DVR & 4 CC Cameras with Night Vision that hook up directly to a laptop or monitor so that we can monitor live during our investigations. This camera features up to 40 feet of Night Vision to allow for night time visability.
RT-EVP Digital Voice Recorder
The new RT-EVP Interactive digital voice recorder was designed exclusively for the paranormal market. Designed with the paranormal enthusiast in mind. During a standard EVP session, a user will typically ask a series of questions over a period of time unaware of any response that may be captured during the session. This data is then later reviewed. One of the key features of the RT-EVP allows the user to extract, play and hear the saved voice data file while it is still Recording Live. The RT-EVP can scan the entire FM range of 88.0MHz to 108.0 MHz quickly in about 12 seconds, or 60msec/step. The device can RECORD while Sweeping the FM band, which eliminates the need for a separate recorder. In addition, the RT-EVP will capture all of your questions and any local EVP with its internal microphone.
Olympus DS-30 Digital Voice Recorder
We use digital voice recorders in the hopes to catch Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP). EVP's are most often captured disembodied voices. Digital voice recorders also play a very important role in recording the sounds in and around an investigation area. They are useful for debunking natural sounds, and for catching "paranormal" sounds and voices.Audio recorders are crucial to the investigation process.
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 Digital Camera
This Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 Digital Camera and all our other digital cameras we use during investigations are used for documenting the investigations. The classic "before and after" shots are what we are after. The photos we take before we start the investigation are used to compare with the photos taken at the end of the investigation. If anything has moved, we can make a note of it, and be sure we find the source of the movement. The photos during the investigation play a crucial role in who was where, and what was happening at that time. The cameras also work side-by-side with the thermometers and the EMF detectors. If there are any spikes in EMF or "cold spots" that we can feel physically, we take a picture in the hopes that we can catch somthing that will help prove or disprove a haunting.
Lutron EMF-822A Field Tester
We use the Lutron EMF-822A Field Tester to track down Electro-Magnetic variances during investigations. When we get spikes in EMF readings we try to locate the source of the EMF whatever it might be, such as: household appliances, electrical wiring, etc...
K-II EMF Meter
We use the K-II EMF Meter when we feel a presence or when paranormal activity is happening around us. Paranormal researchers have for several decade researched the connection between electomagnetic fields (EMF) and psi-energy and paranormal phenomena. The widely accepted therory is that erratic EMF's are present when paranormal activity occurs. It is believed that entities give off a pulsating EMF field which is registered as a sudden spike on the EMF meter. Man made EMF's are almost always steady. Various electronic appliances emit various levels of EMF's. Humans emit a low field of 0.2 milliGauss (mG). When the K-II meter is on, the first led light (green) is always on. Paranormal activity is most commonly registered between 2 to 6 milliGauss, hence usually creating a spike up to he 2nd light and sometimes up to the 3rd light. A strong presence can create a spike to the max.
This meter is best used when stationary because movement can cause false readings.
Mel-Meter 8704R (EMF & Ambient Air Thermometer)
We use the Mel-Meter 8704R which was designed specifically for the paranormal enthusiast. This device has many key features that provide pertinent information that enables direct "Real Time" correlation between AC/DC EMF changes and temperature during an Investigation. The ability to combine multiple items into one easy to operate, "thumb" activated hand held instrument makes the Mel-Meter one of the most practical and efficient Paranormal investigative tools on the market
today.
Cellsensor Gaussmeter (Ghost Meter)
This meter features both cell phone frequency RF measurement as well as a single axis ELF gaussmeter. The gaussmeter feature is calibrated around 50/60 Hz and also offers 2 scales: 0-5 and 0-50 mG. Remote probe with 2 foot extension cord allows user great flexibility and reach. Both RF and gaussmeter provide audio sound and large flashing light which corresponds to field strength so you can hear and see in the dark when you are getting a positive reading.
Sentry ST630 Infrared Thermometer
We use the Sentry ST630 Infrared Thermometer to measure the temperature of surfaces. It's very useful for finding cold spots and drafts located near a rooms windows and doors.
Green 30mW Laser Grid
This high powered laser emits a grid of green dots useful for detecting shadows or general visual disturbances during an investigation. Set it in front of a running camera to catch potential evidence.
Home Safe Motion Detectors/Receivers
These Motion Detectors work great where activity has been reported. You just set them up across from each other, they have an infra-red beam and if anything crosses that infra-red beam it will set them off. We typically set up a night vision camera to watch them to caputre what set them off.
TriField Natural EM Meter
We use the TriField Natural EM Meter to verifiy actual electromagnetic fields during our investigations as the device will not go off at all for electromagnetic fields from electronic equipments, that is AC fields, which are usually around us. This meter will rule out any possibility of the reading have been triggered by a man made piece of equipment.
The meter will alert you of extremely weak static fields. These are referred to as Natural Fields or DC fields. We can choose between electric and magnetic. Or measure changes in either electric or magnetic DC fields at the same time by using the SUM setting.
As we encounter a field, a tone will go off and the needle will move to give you a reading. So we can use the TriField Natural EM Meter to monitor a room. The TriField Natural EM Meter is so sensitive that it can detect a person or animal approaching the meter.
